On February 12, 2024, approximately 60% of the national electricity production in Turkey was generated from renewable energy sources, while fossil fuel-based facilities accounted for 40.26% of the national production.

According to the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ), on Monday, February 12, 2024, a total of 898 GWh of electricity was produced from all sources in Turkey. Renewable energy power plants, producing a total of 536 GWh of electricity, accounted for 59.74% of the national production.

The share of fossil fuel-based facilities in national production, which generated a total of 361 GWh of electricity on Monday, was determined to be 40.26%. According to the data, more than 895 GWh of electricity was consumed nationwide on Monday.

Turkey reaching 60% of its electricity production from renewable energy sources is an important step. This indicates that the country is making progress in its transition to clean energy. However, the fact that fossil fuel-based facilities still account for a significant share of 40.26% shows that efforts to balance the energy portfolio and reduce carbon emissions need to continue. The high electricity consumption nationwide also emphasizes the importance of energy efficiency and conservation measures.
